The Candlestyx have come together to offer a unique musical experience cultivated from the authentic approach to the music of the Woodstock Generation. Butch r Baker and the Candlestyx have performed since 2009 with the celebration of Woodstock 40th anniversary. In 2009 the park estimate was nearing 5000 attendees. The shows since have fluxed from 300 die hards who stayed through in the rain to 2,000.
In 2011 Butch teamed with Chuck Haelig to write and perform original music inspired by the era. Often heard was (and we paraphrase), ”I love your music it sounds like I have heard it 30 years ago and yet it is so fresh”. The ensemble was New Revival of Present Days. NRPD is on hiatus for now.
In 2012, Butch and the Candlestyx celebrated the Rolling Stones 50th anniversary as Butch r Baker & the 50stones.
In 2013, The Candlestyx consolidate and offer all these shows and more authentically approached sets from;

This is an open jam. We will be featuring the music of Paul McCartney as his 70th Birthday a week early.( Doesn’t he deserve an birthday month at this point.)
Anyway. Cheat Sheets and Fake books provided. Multiple drummers and Bassist on stage at one time. It is going to be whole lot of fun!

Welcome to the second half of Winter! It’s all good!
As you have read on my website! This year is the year of new and exciting experiments with Miracles and Music. Lynn Woodland has written a remarkable book! Holding a Butterfly ~ An Experiment in Miracle Making. Although I am bias, (Many already know she is my sweetheart) I believe fully in the concept handed to her from the higher power. I and many other recommend this book.
My music this year will be focusing mostly on the meditation CDs for Lynn’s material. We have established our Publishing company and Music Label. 40shades music & publishing will offer about 12 CDs this year including; New Riders of the Purple Dead, Ravyn and Shipless, Butch r Baker and the Candlestyx and many more.
I received a lot of positive feedback on “Love is the Holidays” co-written with Chuck Haelig. Chuck has a lot of material that will be the bedrock of our Psychedelic Pop & Country Jam ensemble, New Riders of the Purple Dead (NRPD). We will be playing out this summer in parks. Catch us opening for the Woodstock Revival now scheduled at Lake Harriet Band Shell August 14th, 5 PM.
